Upgrading of the Tanta – El Mansoura – Damietta Railway Line

Environmental & Social Screening, funded by the AFD

September 15, 2019 | EcoConServ proudly announces to have been awarded the contract to conduct Environmental and Social Screening of the upgrading of the Tanta – El Mansoura – Damietta Railway Line, a project funded by the French Development Agency (AFD).

The railway sector in Egypt assumes a vital role in preserving the economy and offering easy and affordable transportation services for all Egyptians. Railway lines are mainly concentrated in the Nile Delta and along the Nile Valley; from Alexandria, through Cairo, Port Said, Ismailia, and Suez up to El Sad Ali, and beyond Aswan. The network’s total length is 5,153 km.

The project’s overall objective is to improve the reliability, safety, and efficiency of the subject railway line. Under this framework, EcoConServ will prepare an environmental and social pre-assessment report. The Environmental and Social screening will be conducted in accordance with relevant laws and regulations, as well as national and international environmental and social standards, and preservation of the archaeological, cultural and artistic heritage.
