Environmental & Social Consultancy for Lekela Wind Farm Project
Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy EPC
financed by EBRD & IFC
July 31, 2019 | EcoConServ proudly announces to have been awarded the contract to prepare Construction Environmental and Social Management Plans for Lekela Wind Farm (250MW) in the Gulf of Suez – a project financed by the EBRD and the IFC.
As part of its ambitious plan to increase the share of renewable energies to 20% by 2020, the Government of Egypt has initiated a Feed-in Tariff (FIT) and the build, own, operate (BOO) scheme. Within this scheme, Lekela Power signed an agreement with the EETC to construct a 250 MW wind farm in the Gulf of Suez. Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy EPC was commissioned to install the turbines of this project at the country’s first privately backed large-scale Wind Farm. Since the project is funded by international institutions, compliance with IFC, EBRD and OPIC standards needs to be insured.
As such, Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy EPC has contracted EcoConServ as an independent Environmental and Social Consultant to prepare a Construction Environmental and Social Management Plan (CESMP), a Labor Accommodation Management Plan (LAMP), a Water Management Plan (WMP) and a Stakeholder Engagement Strategy (integrated in the CESMP).
